Giving Tuesday & International Day of People with Disabilities

Today is #Giving Tuesday and International Day of People With Disabilities.

Giving Tuesday is a campaign to create a national day of giving at the start of the annual holiday season. It celebrates and encourages charitable activities that support non-profit organizations.

On December 3, the United Nations will celebrate its convention on the rights of persons with disabilities. This treaty was designed to garner international commitment to preserving dignity, respect, autonomy, inclusion, non-discrimination, accessibility and equality for people with disabilities. While our country has made tremendous progress over the last several decades toward inclusion of people with disabilities in our society, there is still much work to be done. Some people are still living in institutions and are segregated from the greater world. Many people with disabilities continue to deal with obstacles to employment. Communities that are considered the most progressive are just learning how to listen to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and treat them as true equal members of society.

Today, let us consider not only the progress that we have made but also the progress yet to be made.
Join us in both of these initiatives by carrying out an act of kindness or showing your support for someone with disabilities by Making A Donation above, and sharing your actions on our  Facebook page !
