| | Options and Connections Intensive Psychiatric Rehabilitation Treatment ProgramsIPRT is a licensed community mental health service designed to help individuals with a psychiatric disability make informed choices about where to work, go to school, live or socialize. Admission criteria (according to Office of Mental Health certification regulations) include:
The program is funded on a fee for service basis, most often through Medicaid OR on a self pay basis. Average length of stay within an IPRT is approximately one year, with a majority of participants staying between six months and two years. IPRT staff provide the following services: Readiness Assessment; Goal Setting; Skill and Resource Assessment or Determination; Individualized Service Planning; Skill and Resource Development; Discharge Planning; Support Services. Participants are taught in a classroom setting, generally with 6-8 people in a class. The curriculum is highly interactive and includes many activities to assist people with understanding what options are available to them. Teaching formats, in addition to classroom instruction, include resource visits in the community, guest speakers, videotaping, individual time with staff, independent study, referrals to outside agencies for additional resources and hands on instruction in practical skills such as resume writing or organizational skills. Research, conducted by the Office of Mental Health regarding consumer satisfaction, suggests that IPRTs have one of the highest satisfaction ratings among all licensed mental health programs.
