Programs for Recipients of Social Services

 

The Local Interagency VESID Employment Service (LIVES) program is administered by the NYS Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance. This program is a collaboration between the Department of Social Services, ACCES-VR and NCP. The goal of LIVES is to assist Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) recipients identify the personal and/or family issues that have prevented them from successfully participating in employment. Services will enable participants to reach employment goals and assist local social service districts in meeting TANF work participation rate requirements.

The Department of Social Services (DSS)
contracts with
Northeast Career Planning to
work with individuals who are receiving county
assistance. Each contract is designed to service adult
recipients toward becoming productive, self-sufficient
members of their community.


Pre-vocational skills and transition to work training may include
:

  • Group meetings
  • Individual meetings
  • Cooperation with individual medical and psychiatric providers
  • Linkages with State/Federal Agencies
  • Individual goal setting, advocacy and job promotion
  • Community Service Programs
  • Work Experience
  • Subsidized and /or Unsubsidized Employment
  • Job Placement and follow-along

TJP– Transitional Jobs Program is designed to provide educational opportunities that will assist participants to bridge the gap to unsubsidized employment.

SNAP - Safety Net Assistance Project targets county participants who may be unemployed or under employed, with or without a previously diagnosed disability. This program is based on reaching target milestones.
