Vocational Assessment for Young Adults

Northeast Career Planning's vocational evaluation program is an opportunity to discover the interests, strengths, aptitudes and physical tolerances that match to specific jobs and industries. Through the assessment, NCP implements standardized instruments including CareerScope - a computerized assessment system which matches attributes to occupations.

Community Based Assessment provides an opportunity for youth to "try out" different work-related tasks or vocational activities in a community based work site, to determine how interests match abilities. It provides the youngadult supervised job tryouts in areas related to their specific vocational interests. Young adults explore their vocational potential in business environments working with competitive employees and supervisors under the guidance of a professional who is assessing them. Established sites are available in a broad range of occupations and customized sites can be developed to meet the needs of the young adult. Travel training and transportation needs are addressed on an individualized basis.

Vocational Assessment and Community Assessment are integral to any school-to-work transition programand can be combined in order to maximize the evaluation process - and help students realize their full potential. They provide young adults with the unique opportunity to try-out and experience a range of occupations first-hand in a supervised, community based work site. Working closely with employees and supervisors in onsite business environments, Northeast Career Planning enables participants to experience a broad range of occupations while exploring their vocational potential - tailoring programs to meet the needs of each person. Training and transportation needs are assessed on an individual basis.
