| | Assessment (Diagnostic Vocational Evaluation)The Diagnostic Vocational Evaluation (DVE) program includes assessment of an individual's strengths and limitations, as well as the development of a vocational rehabilitation plan. Vocational skills, interests and aptitudes are identified in order to recommend training and/or job placement. Personal, social, attitudinal and motivational factors that affect vocational potential are also assessed. Standardized testing and situational assessment techniques are utilized in DVE. A variety of standardized assessment instruments are used including Apticom, McCarron-Dial, VIEWS, Micro- Tower and Valpar. Achievement testing to determine academic levels, as well as vocational interest testing, are also included. OASYS , a computerized job match system, completes the vocational assessment battery. The DVE staff consists of professional, credentialed counselors with extensive training in vocational rehabilitation. Most are Masters level, Certified Rehabilitation Counselors. Psychological consultation is available in all phases of this program. COMMUNITY-BASED TRAININGAs part of the Diagnostic Vocational Evaluation, Northeast Career Planning provides Situational Assessments and Job Training at various business sites in the community. This program provides opportunities for individuals to explore and evaluate potential for success in many vocational fields, and to receive training in actual business settings. Food Services, Clerical/Secretarial, Janitorial and Retail are a few examples. Using Situational Assessments and Community-Based Training supplements the information gathered during the Diagnostic Vocational Evaluation.
